Our approach
We always try to be a good neighbour and take our role in the community almost as seriously as we take providing our clean and waste water services.
We believe the best way we can make a real difference is through volunteering. Our people love getting out and doing their bit, and we actively support environmental volunteering with the RSPB, Canal & Rivers Trust, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Aire Rivers Trust.
Our Big Wish for Ethiopia campaign brings together our partnership work with WaterAid focusing on six key areas:- fundraising, volunteering, education, customer engagement, influencing and capacity building. During 2014 – 2019, we raised £1m for projects in Ethiopia.
Our Big Wish youth engagement campaign, has an overall target to deliver 600 events across a five year period. By April 2019, we had delivered 511 of these, reaching an audience of over 30,000 people.
